Baptism
Baptism usually takes place on Sundays at 12.15pm unless otherwise arranged. To arrange a Baptism, please contact the parish office for an appointment to see Fr Philip.
Confirmation
The Bishop pays an official visit to our parish every 3 years, and celebrates the sacrament of Confirmation on that occasion. In the two years between his visits, he gives permission for the parish priest to celebrate the sacrament on the feast of Pentecost. Those who ask to be confirmed should be aged 14 or over. They are required to attend the official parish preparation course, which usually iincludes a weekend residential retreat away from the parish.
First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion
A two-part preparation course for these sacraments takes place each year, usually starting in September. The children on the programme generally celebrate their First Reconciliation shortly before Christmas, and their First Holy Communion at special Masses in June.
Children are normally prepared for these sacraments in academic year 3. The preparation sessions take place on Saturday mornings in the parish hall. Those taking part are provided with a list of dates on which these meetings take place. On a few occasions each year at Sunday 11am Mass, the themes explored in the First Communion programme are celebrated iin a special way. There are also a few special meetings for the parents of the children taking part.
We are currently using We Discover God's Paths as our First Reconciliation programme and I Belong in preparation for First Holy Communion.
Marriage
Parishioners intending to get married here or elsewhere should make an appointment with Fr. Philip, ideally 6 months' in advance of their wedding.
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.)
The R.C.I.A. programme is for adults who wish to be received into full communion with the Catholic Church, or who would like to find out more about the Church. The programme usually runs between September and Easter. For further information, please contact the parish office.
