Child Protection
Every parish in the Diocese now has a Responsible Person for Child Protection. The Responsible Person acts as the link between the parish and the Diocesan Child Protection Team. If you have any concerns in this particular area, or witness any inappropriate behaviour involving children please immediately contact the Parish Office and you will be put in touch with our parish Responsible Person.

Holy Cross R.C. Primary School
The parish is blessed to have an excellent Primary School within its boundaries. Most of the children in the parish attend the school, and throughout the year, the school faithfully supports the many celebrations and events that take place in the parish. The school can be contacted on 01708 853000.

Little Angels
The parish has a Parent & Toddler Club, which meets weekly in the Parish Hall during school term-time only every Tuesday and Thursday morning. A whole range of activities are available for the children.

Jack Petchey Achievement Award
In March,June, September and December each year, young people from the parish youth groups, aged 11-25, are nominated for this special award. They are nominated for their contribution to the life of the parish or in the local community. It may be their involvement in the parish youth swimming team that takes part in the annual Diocesan Swimming Gala, or the way they have shown care for an elderly person near to where they live. With the award they are also presented with a £200 cheque to be spent, at their discretion, on the young people of the parish or young people in the local community. Once a year, an adult who works with the young people from the parish is also nominated and presented with a cheque for £1,000. Again, this money is to be spent on the young people of the parish or young people in the local community.

Youth Clubs
The parish has a Junior Youth Club (for those in academic years 5 & 6), The club meets, during the school term-time only, on a Wednesday evening:

Young people from both Youth Clubs are encouraged to take part in the different Diocesan youth events that take place during the year. There is an Irish dancing school presently using the Parish Hall. The Drumenagh School of Irish Dancing meets every Monday (6-7.30pm) & Friday (6-9pm) for contact details of the school, please contact the parish office.

The Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme also runs in the parish. Young people aged 14-25 are encouraged to take part in this scheme.

There are now two young people from the parish who are full members of the Parish Pastoral Council. If any young person in the parish has a particular issue they would like brought up at a PPC meeting they can contact the Parish Office and be put in touch with one of these two young people.
